Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to support our healthcare client in Cockeysville, MD. As a PTA, you will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients recover mobility and manage pain through prescribed therapeutic interventions.
The ideal candidate is a team player who demonstrates strong communication, clinical skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Physical Therapists in implementing treatment plans for patients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or managing chronic physical conditions
- Provide therapeutic exercises and techniques, gait and balance training, and other interventions
- Observe and report patient progress and responses to treatment
- Document patient treatments, progress, and communication in accordance with facility and state regulations
- Instruct patients and family members on proper home exercise programs
- Ensure patient safety and promote a positive, motivating environment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas and equipment
- Comply with all HIPAA, facility, and professional guidelines and standards
Job Requirements & Credentials:
To be considered for the PTA role, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Active Physical Therapist Assistant license issued by the Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
- Associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- CPR (BLS) certification – current and issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross
- 1+ year of experience in a clinical or long-term care setting preferred
- New grads are welcome to apply
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to follow treatment plans and work independently or as part of a team
- Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems is a plus
- Must pass background check and drug screening
